How you can participate in the growth of your community centre!

Marpole-Oakridge Community Association meets every third Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. All members are welcome to attend these meetings to learn more, provide feedback and suggestions, and participate in how your Community Centre is operated!If you believe an engaged community is a healthy community and that a community centre is the heart of the community, consider joining a committee or becoming a member of the MOCA Board of Directors.

All community members are welcome to apply. The Board is currently in need of individuals with financial, legal and organizational skill sets.

Ages 11-13

Junior Youth Council
Members of the Junior Youth Council help plan and organize mini special events. Meet new people and gain valuable leadership experience!

Ages 14-18

Snack Bar Volunteer
Do you have a passion for food, like helping others in a fast paced setting, and want to learn some business and marketing skills at the same time? Help raise money and gain valuable volunteer experience that can help you pursue a career in the food/restaurant industry!

Administrative Assistant
Get volunteer hours for school and gain administrative related experience to prepare you for work!

Youth Room Supervisor
Get volunteer hours for school and gain leadership skills to prepare you for work!

Gymnasium Supervisor
Do you like playing sports and would like to gain leadership skills and experience? Supervise the gymnasium while having fun, organizing mini games, and developing your leadership skills!

Computer Mentor
Do you have patience, a passion to help others, and are a technology savvy person? Teach others how to use their laptops, cell phones, or other electronic devices!

Y2 Youth Mentor
Do you want to develop and enhance your leadership skills by mentoring younger youth? Develop your leadership and teamwork skills by planning, organizing, and leading fun activities with other youth leaders!

Environmental Committee
Do you have a passion to make a positive impact on the environment? This committee focuses on environmental endeavors. They will be running environmental workshops, events, and organizing community clean-ups!

Youth Engagement Committee
Do you love engaging with other youth? This group is focused on improving the youth community. They will be hosting special events and organizing fundraising initiatives to engage the youth in the community!

Fundraising Committee
Do you have great fundraising ideas, love to fundraise, and give back to the community? This group is focused on visiting senior living facilities, fundraising for projects that give back to the community, and volunteering!

Program Planning Committee
Do you have a lot of ideas for potential programs? This group is focused on developing youth programs that the youth want to participate in. Gain valuable planning and developing skills at the same time!

Media Committee
Are you brilliant at coming up with creative designs for promotional flyers and posters? Volunteers will be asked to create flyers, posters, and other promotional material on their own time.

MoreSports Assistant Coach
Do you have a passion for coaching younger children, and like helping others develop/improve their sports skills? Volunteer as a MoreSports Assistant Coach to help elementary children develop, enhance, and improve their sports skills. Gain valuable coaching experience that can help you pursue a career in the recreation field!

Preschool/Childrens Programs
Do you enjoy helping and working with children? There are a variety of childrens programs, some including sports, tutoring, arts, and birthday parties where you can gain valuable experience to pursue a career in the educational field!
Special Events
A majority of our special events are held on the weekends. Some special events include Halloween Howlers, Breakfast with Santa, Easter Carnival, Marpole Community Day, etc.

*All volunteer positions require the completion of a Volunteer Application Form and Volunteer Training.
*Volunteer Application Forms are available at the Front Office or download one here. A Police Record Check may be required.
